A cleaner approach to cleanroom management

In this issue of Industrial Process News, we are pleased to feature Connect 2 Cleanrooms Ltd as our Cleanroom Management Company of the Month.

For more than two decades, Connect 2 Cleanrooms has been helping businesses create, equip and maintain the controlled environments they need to manufacture critical products safely and reliably. Established in 2002, the Lancaster-based company was born from a practical problem encountered in the injection moulding industry.

The original founder had struggled to find a suitable cleanroom solution for covering injection moulding machines used to manufacture medical devices and other products requiring a controlled environment. Rather than accept the limitations of the solutions available, he set about designing his own – an approach that ultimately became the foundation of Connect 2 Cleanrooms.

Since then, the company has evolved considerably. Its mission is to simplify cleanroom management by combining practical solutions and specialist expertise with the products and services required to keep controlled environments operating effectively.

That evolution has included the development of Cleanroomshop, the first cleanroom supplies ecommerce platform offering an online source for cleanroom essentials ranging from PPE and cleaning products to monitoring equipment and cleanroom solutions. Today, Connect 2 Cleanrooms’ offering is centred around four key areas: cleanroom solutions; furniture; consumables; and CPD-certified cleanroom training.

The company’s current strategy reflects a shift in emphasis from being a traditional cleanroom design and build specialist towards supporting organisations that already have cleanroom facilities and need reliable expertise, equipment and supplies to keep them running. Conversely, they have also focused their cleanroom solutions offering on predesigned systems and laminar flow cabinets rather than bespoke cleanroom design and build projects. The company says this approach is particularly suited to organisations looking for a faster, cost-effective and more straightforward route to establishing or expanding controlled environments.

Based at Riverside House in Halton, near Lancaster, Connect 2 Cleanrooms primarily operates from its UK headquarters while supporting customers across the UK, Europe and further afield.

Its customer base reflects the breadth of applications for controlled environments. Healthcare and medical, pharmaceutical and medical-device organisations are among its key markets, where dependable consumables and contamination-control expertise are essential. At the same time, the company works with smaller and growing businesses in areas including plastics, aerospace and education, where speed, efficiency and practical cleanroom solutions can be equally important.

From its origins solving a specific manufacturing challenge, Connect 2 Cleanrooms has developed into a specialist partner focused on simplifying the day-to-day management of controlled environments.

Max Mcleod, Head of Marketing and Product Development, explains, “Since 2002, our mission has been to simplify the world of cleanrooms. With an in-house team of account managers and product specialists, we pride ourselves on the level of service our customers receive. By delivering practical solutions and trusted expertise through one reliable partner, we empower organisations to focus on innovation, quality, and growth – not complexity.”

With simplicity in mind, one of the key, recent developments is the company’s range of predesigned cleanroom solutions. Developed from over 20 years’ experience in cleanroom design and bringing together frequently requested sizes and common specifications, the predesigned cleanroom range offers a faster, cost-effective route to an ISO class 7 controlled environment. Built with standardised parts and an efficient layout, these cleanrooms can be delivered within 5 weeks and assembled in less than a day in some cases. Its softwall models can also be fitted with castors, providing greater flexibility for manufacturers.

That mobility makes the range particularly relevant to plastics manufacturers, where the same machinery may be used with different tooling and only certain production runs require a controlled environment. The cleanroom can be moved over the machinery when required and then relocated when production demands change.

The company says its repositioning has already delivered strong results in 2026, as its focus on Cleanroomshop and streamlined cleanroom solutions continues to gather momentum. Their cleanroom operator training courses have also been in high demand. As companies operating a controlled environment go through expansion or recruit new people, maintaining best practice and cleanroom protocol are of top priority.

Looking ahead, the business is focused on expanding its customer base, entering new sectors and increasing its presence in international markets. While Connect 2 Cleanrooms already supplies customers overseas, a particular priority is taking its predesigned cleanroom range to a wider global audience.

The ambition is to make purchasing a cleanroom as straightforward as ordering everyday consumables. It is a fitting next step for a company whose guiding philosophy has remained consistent throughout its evolution: provide practical solutions, trusted expertise and everything customers need to keep their cleanrooms running, without unnecessary complexity.
